Funding

Funding
There are various methods of funding to help you to pay your childcare fees, including:

  • Tax Credits
  • Childcare Vouchers
  • Preschool Council Funding

Tax Credits

The following information was taken from the Scottish Family Information Service:

Tax credits are payments from the government. If you’re responsible for at least one child or young person, you may qualify for Child Tax Credit. If you work, but are on a low income, you may qualify for Working Tax Credit. You can often get both types of tax credits.

Child Tax Credit is paid to you if you are responsible for at least one child or young person who normally lives with you. You don’t have to be working to claim Child Tax Credit.

Working Tax Credit offers financial support for families on a low income. The amount paid depends on the person’s income and the number of hours they work per week; you can claim whether you’re an employee or a self-employed person. There is a childcare element to this which can offset any registered childcare costs.

If you would like further information on Tax Credits, please visit the Directgov website.

Childcare Vouchers

We accept all childcare vouchers towards payment of fees. The following is taken from the Scottish Family Information Service.

The Childcare Voucher scheme provides savings for employers and employees. Your employer may offer you childcare vouchers (including vouchers in return for a reduction in your pay – known as a ‘salary sacrifice’) to help with your childcare costs. This may affect the amount of tax credits you can get. Employees can only use the childcare vouchers to pay for childcare that has been registered or approved.

Preschool Council Funding

Nursery Times at the Park is in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council to provide children with their entitlement to free pre-school education. Children are entitled to pre-school funding when they turn 3 years old within 3 intakes within the year.

  1. August intake is for any child who turns 3 before the last day in August.
  2. January Intake is for any child who turns 3 before the last day in December.
  3. April intake is for any child who turns 3 before the last day in February

Children are entitled to 38 weeks of funding of up to five free sessions of two and a half hours per year.

Children can only have a maximum of 2 free sessions within one day which must be split over the full day.

For example a child who attend nursery for 2 full days and one half day can get the full 5 sessions of funding.

A child who is in 4 half days or 2 full days can get 4 sessions of funding. Please note children should attend a minimum of three sessions (3 half days or 1 full day and a half day) to qualify for funding.

Parents who would like to increase their child’s attendance when they start to get funding should put a request in writing and hand it into the office.

The council provide nursery funding for 38 weeks which is the equivalent of 9 months funding.

The three non-funded months are January, April and August where full fees are applicable. The other 9 months will have the funding amount deducted from your monthly fees and parents pay the remainder.

The nursery will issue the funding forms for the following academic year to parents each January/February time.

We will also provide a letter detailing the funding amounts for parents for 3, 4 and 5 sessions of funding.

Parents should simply fill in the form and return it to the nursery office by the deadline of 30th April with proof of address and the child’s birth certificate in order to qualify for funding.
